Enrollment

As a certificated employee, there are two times you can enroll for benefits: When you first become eligible and during Annual Enrollment each fall.

Once you enroll, your elections stay in place for the full calendar year. You generally can't make changes mid-year unless you have a qualifying life event — such as getting married or divorced, having a child, or your spouse gaining or losing other coverage.

Enrolling for the First Time

You have 30 days following your first day of work to log in to Oracle Cloud and enroll for benefits. If you miss this window, you'll need to wait until Annual Enrollment, unless you have a qualifying life event.

Once you enroll, coverage starts on the first day of the month after you've completed 30 days of active work. (The Employee Assistance Program is the one exception — you can use the EAP on your first day.)

If you start work during the summer or another non-standard time, your enrollment deadline and coverage start date may differ from the general timeline. Contact Employee Benefit Services to confirm your specific deadlines.

Saving on Your Premiums

When you first enroll, you automatically receive the lowest available premium rate. To keep that rate, you need to complete the Cigna Health Assessment by November 30 each year — the close of Annual Enrollment.

If you choose not to take the Health Assessment, you will pay the standard premium rate, which is $800 per year higher.

Enrolling During Annual Enrollment

Annual Enrollment is held November 1-30 each year. This is your once-a-year opportunity to change your benefit elections and/or who you cover. Any changes you make take effect January 1 of the following year.

Viewing your Benefit Elections

To see your current elections, including who is covered, at any time:

  1. Log onto Oracle Cloud.
  2. Select the Benefits tile from the home screen.
  3. Select Enrollment Summary and choose "As of date," which is the first day of the year, January 1.
